BGF part of the 2019 Western Balkans Summit in Poznań

3-5 July, 2019 - Balkan Green Foundation was part of the The Western Balkans Summit held in Poznań, the sixth annual summit within the Berlin Process initiative for European integration of Western Balkans states. Heads of government, foreign ministers, and the ministers of economy from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia, and also representatives from EU member states were part of this event.

The agenda of the event included issues of economy, connectivity, civil society with a focus on youth and culture, and security.

BGF partook in the session "At the crossroads of Business and Activism"  a panel chaired by Leila Bicakcic, board member of the Balkan Green Foundation. During the discussion it was emphasized how business can “create value for society” and can change their mindset. Further, the panel also presented examples of social initiatives that became successful business stories, explored chances for young people who want to make a change etc.

These top-level meetings were complemented by three events: an expert Think Tank Forum; Civil Society Forum – a platform for experience exchange and cooperation aimed at NGOs; as well as a Business forum, whose aim was to help entrepreneurs make connections and deepen professional knowledge.

These events prove an excellent fit with the priorities of Polish presidency of the Berlin Process, an initiative initiated by Germany which connects partners from Western Balkans and some Member States of the European Union. The Polish presidency’s priorities are: economy, connectivity, civil society and security.
