Bulgaria, June 2016 - On June 2016, representatives from the Balkan Green Network participated at the Central Eastern European Energy Efficiency Forum (C4E), which was held in Balchik, Bulgaria. Given that 2016 is an important year for energy efficiency as well as the broader concept of Energy Union, C4E Forum highlighted the importance of the Energy Efficiency Directive and the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive for the Central and Eastern Europe region.
C4E Forum is a bi-annual community-building event designed to combine practical sessions, creative workshops and evening plenaries with high-level speakers and plenty of informal networking opportunities. During these activities, Western Balkans representatives had the opportunity to discuss energy efficiency developments and best practices with CEE government officials, industry representatives, financial institutions and civil society organizations.
As a result of these sessions, it was emphasized that the implementation of energy efficiency programmes needs to accelerate and focus must be given on reducing import dependence, improving local air quality, reducing fuel poverty, and in general, bringing a better quality of life for the citizens in Central and Eastern Europe.
The aim of C4E Forum is to build and strengthen Central and Eastern Europe’s energy efficiency community. It is of a high importance to share and combine visions on developing interesting efficiency projects, policies and programmes, which are currently being developed around the region.
