Philanthropy for Green Ideas 2017 - Regional Competition

Montenegro, July 2017 – Balkan Green Foundation (BGF) organized the 6th annual regional competition of the Philanthropy for Green Ideas in Kolasin, Montenegro. The competition gathered 18 participants from the Western Balkan 6 (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) who presented their innovative green projects.

Philanthropy for Green Ideas is a project supported by the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, which aims to stimulate and encourage innovation for green business ideas at the local level. Moreover, it explores the role of philanthropy in engaging local communities to generate green business ideas that utilize local resources and revitalize disappearing traditional production chains and community-based markets.

This year, BGF awarded four prices of up to $10,000 to implement projects. This year’s winners are: Milan Mijajlovic - "Camp under Ostrog" (Montenegro), Jane Zaevski - "Food for Everyone" (Macedonia), Besart Kunushevci - "Academy Platform" (Kosovo) and Kristian Shopov - "Eco Illusion" (Macedonia). Best projects were selected by an independent, international jury.

By supporting innovative, local sustainable economic development initiatives, Philanthropy for Green Ideas aims to substantively contribute to building a peaceful, competitive, and prosperous Western Balkans region.
